Description
Peer Health Exchange (PHE) is a national non-profit organization that builds healthier communities with young people. Together we create education opportunities for peers to share the tools and resources young people need to make healthy choices. Since 2003, we have trained more than 15,000 college students to deliver in-person health education to over 188,000 high school-aged young people in communities across the country. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we re-designed our in-person programming to be delivered virtually and partnered with high school students to understand their mental health needs. Following that collaboration, we launched our app selfsea.org for young people ages 13 – 18. In the past year, we’ve expanded from two in-person program models to five in-person and digital program offerings and we are continuing to grow! About the role

As the Manager, Community Liaison - New York you will develop and implement the roadmap for local expansion in New York, in partnership with the Sr. Director, Community Engagement. Additionally, you will secure new and renewing partnerships with districts, high schools, and community-based organizations to reach 3,200 young people, while building key relationships within New York to advance health equity work and coalition-building in service of our vision and mission. You will report directly to the Sr. Director, Community Engagement.


About the Community Partnerships team

The Community Partnerships team promotes equity in access to health education by supporting and amplifying youth voice thru the regional Youth Advisory Boards, and partnering with schools and communities across the county to deliver a culturally responsive curriculum in service of young people.

Here’s what you will do as part of our team:

Strategic Growth & Partnership Maintenance

  • Secure partnerships with new and renewing districts, high schools, and community organizations to reach 3,200 or more young people with PHE’s in-person fellow-led facilitation model
  • Collaborate with National Sites team on program implementation, as well as with Marketing & Communications on branding and marketing opportunities to support growth
  • Set and meet shared cost revenue goals related to individual high schools, districts and charter management organizations
  • Create and execute stakeholder management plans for all new and returning partners and manage all synchronous partnerships for the area
  • Diligently document and use strategic growth data systems and contribute to the team’s overall goal for reaching as many young people as possible

 

Community Engagement

  • Meet with and grow partnerships with local health resources (e.g., School Based Health Centers, other local health centers, and youth-serving organizations throughout the area) to foster collaboration and ensure these resources are accurately reflected in PHE programming and materials
  • Meet with and join relevant coalitions in the area to help advance health equity work and health outcomes for high school students in the area
  • Create and implement events and programs to engage fellows, high school students, families, and communities more deeply with our work
  • Collaborate with young people to build healthier communities and advance health equity through local advocacy groups.


What you'll bring to the table:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a strong passion for PHE’s mission to build healthier communities with young people; strong alignment with PHE’s core values of Health Equity, Commitment, Communication, Agency, and Impact
  • Centers youth inclusion, community partnership, and equity work visibly, broadly, in action in part through deep listening and hearing with a lens of inclusion
  • 2-4 years of work experience
  • Experience publicly representing and pitching an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex relationships and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of pipeline and constituents
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong research skills and organization systems
  • Involvement and understanding of the communities PHE New York serves
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral)


Preferred qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of work experience
  • Familiarity with New York public education landscape
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM
  • Bachelor's degree
